Dr. Youssef Bassim

Biography:

 Dr. Youssef Bassim is an orthopedic surgeon and healthcare consultant, boasting a quarter-century of experience in both clinical practice and healthcare administration. He holds a prestigious fellowship with the American College of Surgeons and earned a combined master’s degree in Hospital & Healthcare Management from ESA (Lebanon) and Paris Diderot (France), with a specialization in Healthcare Information Technology (HIT).

Currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at the University of Balamand and Director of the Medical Simulation Center, Dr. Bassim also holds the position of Assistant to the President for health affairs. Additionally, he serves as an executive board member and chairman of the Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence department at the Arab Hospitals Federation. His extensive background includes advising the Minister of Health, consulting for the World Bank's Health Sector Rehabilitation program, and directing programs at the World Health Organization.  Recently, he became the Lebanon Chapter representative at the World Council for Medical Tourism.

Dr. Bassim is a recognized expert in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies within healthcare settings, focusing on enhancing healthcare delivery, improving diagnostic accuracy, optimizing patient outcomes, and advancing healthcare operations. He has spearheaded numerous AI-driven projects, implementing innovative solutions such as predictive analytics, telemedicine platforms, medical imaging diagnostics, and AI-powered decision support systems. His pioneering work continues to shape digital transformation strategies and healthcare innovation across the Arab region.
