Biography:
Dr Roman Bauer is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Surrey and leads the Nature-Inspired Computing and Engineering (NICE) research group. His research focuses on explainable AI, computational neuroscience, and agent-based modelling of complex biological systems. He is the spokesperson and a core contributor to the BioDynaMo project, an international open-source platform for large-scale biological simulations (www.biodynamo.org). His work spans neuroimaging, retinal biomarker discovery, and mechanistic modelling of brain development and disease, with applications in neurodegeneration and digital health.
